Erie Canal National Heritage Trail This is a 70-mile cycling and hiking trail along the Erie Canal from Palmyra to Lockport. The Finger Lakes Trail Conference The mission of the Finger Lakes Trail Conference is to build, protect, and enhance a continuous footpath across New York State, forever. Genesee Land Trust The Genesee Land Trust preserves and protects waterways, wetlands, farmland, open space, fish and wildlife habitat, and scenic or recreational areas within the Greater Rochester area by acquiring property or development rights and assisting government agencies, individuals, and private groups with their own land protection efforts. Genesee Region Trails Coalition Fortunately, Victor Hiking Trails, Inc. has volunteered to present an online map of the trails and parks in and around the region. The Genesee Region Trails Coalition is an organization whose mission is to help local communities develop and maintain a regional system of multi-use trails and promote responsible trail usage as a healthy and inexpensive recreational opportunity for all seasons. Genesee Valley Chapter of Adirondack Mountain Club (ADK) Hiking, cycling and canoeing club, Rochester area chapter. Their meetings and outings are open to members and non-members alike. Genesee Valley Greenway The Greenway is a 90-mile rails-to-trails project along the Genesee Valley Canal from Rochester south through Letchworth State Park to the Southern Tier. Genesee Transportation Council Metropolitan planning organization for the Genesee-Finger Lakes region. Part of their responsibilities include the Regional Trails Initiative for the nine-county region. Town of Henrietta Town of Henrietta website Henrietta Garden Club Garden club of Henrietta dedicated to educating the public about the art and science of gardening; conservation and preservation of flora around town; and the beautification of public grounds. The garden club was instrumental in establishing the Trail Garden at the Lehigh Valley Trail parking lot on East Henrietta Road. Ted Hosmer Ent., Inc. Ted Hosmer Lawn and Landscape is Henrietta-based company that specializes in residential lawn care and landscaping design services. The Land Trust Alliance The Land Trust Alliance unites and champions organizations in local communities working to save natural areas. The Alliance works to help the public understand and prioritize the importance of private land conservation. To build support for conservation, the Alliance helps community organizations develop, leverage and coordinate their communication efforts. Mendon Foundation Mendon Foundation activities parallel those of the Henrietta Foundation in the towns of Mendon, Rush, and Victor. It manages the Black Diamond Trail, which links directly into the Rush and Henrietta branch of the Lehigh Valley Trail. The Nature Conservancy The Nature Conservancy’s mission is to preserve the plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. New York State Pollution Prevention Institute The mission of NYSP2I is to make New York State more sustainable for workers, the public, the environment, and the economy through reductions in toxic chemical use; the efficient use of raw materials, energy, and water; and reductions in emissions to the environment and waste generation. The parks, preserves, trails, waterfronts, and vistas you will find here were protected by OSI for you and your family. You are encouraged to visit these properties, they are some of the most beautiful landscapes that New York state has to offer. Parks and Trails New York Parks and Trails New York’s mission is to protect and advocate for existing parks and the state’s natural and historic resources, and to promote the creation of new kinds of parks such as greenways, rail and canal trails, and heritage corridors. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy An organization whose goal is to create a nationwide network of public cycling and hiking trails on former rail line and connecting corridor beds.
